Capoeira — martial art, dance, music, and culture — for all ages in Pune. Part of a global family in 40+ countries.
Capoeira is more than a martial art — it's a living dialogue of movement, rhythm, and expression. Practiced in a circle called the roda, two players exchange kicks, defenses, and playful tricks while musicians play the berimbau and atabaque.
It builds agility, coordination, balance, and confidence, while cultivating empathy and respect. Whether you're a child discovering movement or an adult rediscovering joy, Capoeira welcomes everyone into its rhythm.

Capoeira was born in Brazil over 400 years ago, created by African slaves who disguised self-defense training as dance. Under watchful eyes, they turned resistance into rhythm, struggle into song, and survival into art.
Today it represents unity and heritage. Through songs, movements, and rituals passed across generations, it tells a story of courage — every roda a living echo of that spirit.
Every class combines movement, music, and community. No experience needed — just show up.
Grupo Capoeira Brasil Pune is led by Instrutor Arrepiado under the guidance of Mestre Caxias, bringing Brazilian Capoeira to India. The global group was founded in 1989 in Rio de Janeiro and now spans 40+ countries.

One of the key figures of Grupo Capoeira Brasil, known for his charisma, deep knowledge, and lifelong dedication. With decades of experience he has taught thousands worldwide. He visits Pune regularly for workshops and the annual Batizado, bringing wisdom and connection to our global community.

Practicing Capoeira for over 14 years and trained under Mestre Caxias, Arrepiado represents Grupo Capoeira Brasil in Pune. His teaching builds character, confidence, and community. He has organized numerous workshops, events, and annual Batizados — creating a growing family of capoeiristas who embody respect, creativity, and passion.
Music is not background — it sets the tempo, mood, and energy of every roda. Students learn to play and sing alongside movement.

Capoeira songs tell stories of history, heroes, and life lessons — sung in Portuguese, they carry messages of resilience and community. At Grupo Capoeira Brasil Pune, music is taught with as much importance as movement.

My son started as a shy 5-year-old. Two years later he performs at the Batizado with a huge smile. Capoeira changed him.
I joined for fitness and stayed for the culture. The music, the people, the philosophy — it's unlike anything else in Pune.
Our school loved the workshop — the kids were completely engaged. Incredible how Capoeira combines movement, music, and discipline.
As an adult beginner I was nervous, but the group made me feel so welcome. The classes are challenging and joyful at the same time.
